WATERVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS

We all hear the fire siren when it goes off and makes us worry about our neighbors and loved ones, and oh so grateful that we have volunteers that respond to these calls. Please take the time to look over these reports submitted by our local fire department here in Waterville and see how often they are called out, when they are called out and what they get called out for. If you see a fireman - please say thank you!

HEAP Funds Available to Help with Heating Costs
December 21, 2018

DO YOU NEED HELP WITH YOUR HEATING BILLS?  HEAP funds available.

Residents can now apply for assistance paying their heating bills this winter through the state's annual Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). Eligibility is based on income, household size and how the home is heated. For example: a family of four can have a household income of up to $55,178 a year and still qualify for help. That help typically comes in the form of a one-time regular HEAP benefit of up to $726. Early sign up is encouraged as assistance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply for the regular HEAP program benefit, visit https://myBenefits.ny.gov.

Some households may also qualify for a one-time emergency HEAP benefit if they are at risk of running out of fuel. The emergency program sign up doesn't begin until January 2, 2019. Contact the Oneida County Department of Social Services at 800 Park Ave in Utica by calling 315-798-5559.
