Waterville was recently designated a Clean Energy Community by the state and received a $50,000 grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to do more to conserve energy and help the environment. To receive the grant the village had to achieve four steps to qualify. Installing two car charging stations for electric cars behind the medical center on Main Street in the Village Parking lot, was the final step. The village is now determining how to spend the $50,000 to achieve the best energy savings. Updating the decorative street lights to LED is one of the items being looked at.
